Nancy Benton is largely self taught. Her passion for the Arts extends beyond her personal studio. It’s not just about making a painting, but about community. Artists need to support each other and the larger community needs to support artists. At the same time creators must be active agents who advocate for themselves by being involved in public policies and fostering the appreciation of art in the general public. She often says that after time spent in her studio, Nancy comes out feeling human again. That process of creation and discussion of a painting or sculpture or public installation is what makes us all human.
She enjoys working in a series and working on several at a time. A series is never really finished and Nancy will often go back and revisit past ideas. She works mostly in acrylic and loves to express the human condition and our relationship to nature and each other through landscapes to abstracts.
