I come to painting from a career as an advertising art director where everything was solving marketing problems. Every project had it’s product parameters, and informational requirements. It was a liberal education, in the least, in many product areas.
Free now. Long ago in art school painting classes, I discovered how much I enjoyed to paint. Painting my way was a little different from the norm. I found a carefree, fluid, of-the-moment, and extemporaneous style that just seemed to come from within. Eclectic, electric, and non-objective on the whole, and totally free of any parameters.
Today, I still strive for that free, visually arresting style, and regard it as the ultimate challenge of my art. Sometimes evocative of reality-based objects, or referential of my beloved native Northern California surroundings.
